The Bits We Forget: Caring for Ears, Eyes & Teeth

The Bits We Forget: Caring for Ears, Eyes & Teeth

A shiny coat is wonderful—but good grooming goes deeper. Ears, eyes and teeth are easy to overlook and quick to cause problems when they're neglected.

Ears

Check weekly for redness, odour or excess wax, especially in floppy-eared and fluffy breeds. Clean only the visible part with a vet-approved solution—never push anything deep into the canal.

Eyes

Wipe away normal discharge with a soft, damp cloth, working from the inner corner outward. Keep the hair around the eyes trimmed so it doesn't poke or irritate. Cloudiness, squinting or heavy tearing are reasons to call your vet.

Teeth

  • Brush with a dog-safe toothpaste a few times a week if you can.
  • Offer dental chews and appropriate toys.
  • Watch for bad breath, which is often the first sign of dental trouble.

We keep an eye on all of these during every groom and will always flag anything that looks like it needs a vet's attention.
