Your Puppy's First Groom: Setting Them Up for Success

The way a puppy experiences their first few grooms can shape their whole attitude toward it—for years. Our goal with young pups is simple: keep it short, gentle and full of good associations.

When to start

Puppies can usually visit once they've had a minimum of two sets of vaccinations. We keep young pups separated from other dogs for safety, and ease them in gradually rather than doing everything at once.

Building confidence at home

  • Touch paws, ears and tail daily so handling feels normal.
  • Introduce the brush in tiny, treat-filled sessions.
  • Run the (turned-off, then on) dryer or clippers nearby so the sounds aren't scary.
  • Keep everything upbeat and brief.

What to expect from us

A puppy's first visits are about exposure, not a perfect haircut. We go at their pace, build trust, and celebrate the little wins. Start early and grooming becomes just another happy part of your dog's life.
